ASL Scenario of the Day: 128 Defense of Luga

July 19, 1941

By the way PLEASE make the NYA ASL website a favorite so you can find it easily.

As many of you know the exciting news is we are moving to a much better hotel – Hilton Garden Inn Albany/SUNY. Details are as follows:

Hilton Garden Inn Albany/SUNY

1389 Washington Ave Albany, New York 12206

Reservation Desk: 866-245-4762

Front Desk: 518-453-1300

The tournament will run from Thursday, December 3, 2026 10:00AM through Sunday, December 6, 2026, 3:00 PM.

Here is the important part: An issue did arise where we have to pay in increments during the course of 2026. We where able to make the first two payments on February 1, 2026 and May 1, 2026 (we reached out to a few stalwarts and asked them to register early – and got a good response-thank you guys!) we have another payment due August 1, 2026 that totals about 8 more registrations. Joe and I humbly ask that if you plan to attend Albany 2026 please pay sooner rather than later; it takes a huge load off  of our minds to have this money in hand before it’s due. The more of you who register early the easier life gets for us!

If you have not joined the website please do so. The website is also open for registration; please do so at your earliest convenience. And remember simply joining the website does not register you for the tourney; you must join the website AND register for the tourney.

There are still some items out there from 2025; I am in the process of cleaning them up and updating for 2026.

The scenario selection process is well under way thanks to the LI ASL group as well as a number of others willing to play testing a few scenarios. These should be out by the end of August.

The All-bany American Pack for this year’s tourney is also almost completed with play testing; two of the three scenarios are completed with the third in it’s final playtest. The scenarios are as follows:

ABA1: Sicilian Sliced Santa Croce Camerina, Sicily, 10 July 1943, 5.5 Turns

ABA2: Vexed at Voxhil Voxhil, Holland 18 September 1944, 6.5 Turns

ABA3: My God, Look at That! West of Thier-Du-Mont, Belgium January 7, 1945, 7.5 Turns

For those who arrive early on Wednesday I am arranging a special tour of the DE 766 USS Slater, the last Destroyer Escort afloat in the United States. She is remarkably well preserved (I know first-hand) and all proceeds from this tour go towards the continued maintenance of this amazing piece of history. Last year we were treated to a two hour tour (most tours are one hour long) by a guide who knew his stuff. Please let me know if interested. We will meet at the ship at 2PM Wednesday. The address is: 141 Broadway & Quay St, Albany, NY 12202 (518) 431-1943.

Again please spread the word about the tournament. One of our goals this year is to get the attendance up this year. I would appreciate if you have someone who might be interested you let them know and tell them about your (hopefully) great experiences at Albany.

As always please check out our sponsor page and please support them!

If you need me for any reason please call my cell – 516-315-2204.
